Liguilla semifinals – Second leg roundup

TOLUCA 1, PACHUCA 0
Toluca needed only a draw to advance to the Torneo Bicentenario finals, but punched their ticket with an outright win, 1-0 over Pachuca Saturday at Estadio Nemesio Diez.

Antonio Rios scored the deciding goal in the 41st minute. A minute later, Osvaldo Gonzalez collected his second red card and was sent off, leaving the Diablos Rojos shorthanded for the final 49 minutes. Pachuca, however, was unable to capitalize.

Toluca, who won the semifinal series by a 3-2 aggregate score, will be on the road for the first leg of the championship, at Santos Laguna’s Estadio TSM Corona on Thursday, May 20.

SANTOS LAGUNA 7, MORELIA 1
Oribe Peralta led the way with a hat trick as Santos Laguna steamrolled their way into the Liguilla championship with a 7-1 win over Monarcos Morelia Saturday at Estadio TSM Corona.

Santos won the high-scoring semifinal series by an aggregate score of 10-4.

Fernando Arce put the Guerreros on the board in the first minute, but for a brief time it appeared that Morelia would keep pace. Luis Gabriel Rey leveled the score in the fourth, but the rest of the match was all Santos.

Carlos Quintero scored the game-winner in the 12th minute, and Peralta added an insurance goal two minutes later. The 3-1 score held through halftime, but not long past, as Jorge Estrada added another point to Santos’ lead in the 49th, and Peralta completed his hat trick with tallies in the 50th and 81st. Substitute Vicente Matias Vuoso closed things out in the 83rd.

Santos Laguna will host the opening led of the championship on Thursday, May 20.
